For the month of August, I’ve been featuring one of my favorite webcomics, Insert Image by Wes Molebash (Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus). Check out Part 1 here.
Since Insert Image hasn’t done any storylines, it has been hard to choose which strips to select as my favorites to showcase. I even got a bunch of suggestions too, and there are too many great ones. So here’s the thing… I don’t want to break my format so early into this featured comics thing, but I do want you to specifically check out 2 strips other than the one I’m posting today. I’ll include links to the other two after the comic.
The comic I did choose to specifically feature I chose because of the pop-culture jokes. Popular things are always fun to make jokes about, and I find that Wes has an incredible knack for noticing that one thing you had thought and immediately placed in the back of your mind. Not the terrible jokes that should never be uttered aloud, but the silly thoughts that pop into your head that you never want to admit to…
Then Wes brings it up in a comic, and you think, Oh! It’s not just me! Thank God! You know… like when you find out what TOMS are…
Returned TOMS
Totally Rad Recommendations (because they’re better than just honorable mentions): Coffee Meth Lab, and Condescending Bible Translation Guy. Enjoy, my friends.
Wes Molebash Interview: Part 3
Q. What’s your favorite movie, and why?
Goodness! There are so many! I think I’d have to go with an old standby: Life As A House. I think the movie has a great story with wonderful character development, and Mark Isham’s soundtrack is amazing.
Q. What’s the one thing you would say to a person wanting to make comics too?
It would be the same advice I’d give to anyone trying to chase a creative dream: Just do it! Jump in head first! It’s important to be a student of your craft, but don’t delay “starting” because you’re still “learning”. You’ll be surprised how much and how fast you’ll learn once you put your nose to the grindstone and start creating.
Tune in next Wednesday for the final installment of our feature of Insert Image by Wes Molebash!
