Insert Image Part 4

The fourth and final part of The Underfold’s feature of the webcomic, Insert Image by Wes Molebash.

For the month of August, I’ve been featuring one of my favorite webcomics, Insert Image by Wes Molebash (TwitterFacebookGoogle Plus) and this is Part 4. Start with Part 1 here.

As I conclude my feature of Insert Image and Wes Molebash, I had a big finish planned out. I’m going to go ahead with that next, but I feel like I’d be remiss in one of the things that Wes is great at in every comic that I’ve read from him… He’s honest. He lays it all out there and invites discussion in the comments. It’s pretty interesting because I feel like even though his comic is formatted for a niche of Christians, he still draws in others. It’s like those people that you don’t mind discussing hard things with because no one is going to get mad or angry or be stupid. Everyone’s cracking jokes, making good points and for the most part (it is the internet, afterall) being really civil.

But I digress. My big finale is all about the Insert Image Holiday specials. He seems to always go all out for the holidays and it’s always funny. From joking about churches catering to dads that are only dragged to church on Christmas and Easter to riffing about what it would be like to jam Rob Bell, John Piper, and Francis Chan into a Thanksgiving dinner special… They’re great. Below is one of my favorites. It’s a longer one, and I think is just really spot-on.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that if you’re one of those people that only goes to church on the holidays, you’ve got a home at Insert Image as well. Wes has got you covered on the holidays too.

Without further adieu…

Wes Molebash Interview: Part 4

Q. Who is your hero, and why?

I have lots, but my dad is at the top of the list. He’s a really inspiring guy. Watching him encourages me that it’s never too late in life to do something really great.

Q. As an artist, where do you draw value from your work?

I always say that the only audience I’m trying to entertain is myself. And that’s true. But I’d be lying if I said that my readers’ response didn’t matter. It’s very rewarding to get feedback from people who enjoy what you create. That feedback is honestly what keeps me going.

I love this guy. Also, he just became a dad, so show him some love!
