Today I asked people on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ what they wanted to know about Resonance Men and for this post, I’m going to give a little update about where I am in the process and answer those questions as best I can. I’m excited to see some of you taking an interest in the story enough to ask! Feel free to and I’ll try to answer them as I can! (Don’t want to spoil anything, but still)
Update on Resonance Men
I’m nearing the end of my second draft process. Last week I started in on the last act of the book. What I didn’t realize was… how much work needed to be done. The answer was “a bunch.” Turns out I decided to rush a bunch of important information and rush a bunch of action and what I wound up with was a bit of a flop for a conclusion to my first, full graphic novel. And that’s just not going to work.
So I’ve been working on adding, subtracting and reorganizing pieces to make sure that it rings true from beginning to end. It is very much coming together and now the only parts I have left are: the final boss fight and the resolution.
I’m really trying to make some of the best work I’ve ever made for all of you (and, frankly, for myself too). I really think you’re going to like it!

Q: Will there be dinosaurs (from @MikePodgor)
This is an easy one. No there will not be dinosaurs. Unless you consider old timers dinosaurs.
Q: Also, I know you said you’re going for more authentic history, but will you explore the more fantastical parts of history? (from @MikePodgor)
One thing that I decided along the way was that I really wanted to delve into some of my ridiculous theories about mythology. So, from that perspective, yes! Yes there will be fantastical things! There’s a (type of) dragon, a leviathan and an ancient Babylonian god! Mythology, technology, time travel and more! It’s exciting and I’m trying to make it work without being overly convoluted. I’ll nail it down, though.

Q: I’d like to know more about the characters and your inspiration for them and the story! (from The Perfectionish)
This is a perfect question for today’s downloadable desktop background. The two main characters are Charles Westenbury and Frank Lore—two best friends who have fallen out over the last few years after a conflict (sorry can’t say yet!). But when Charles stumbles onto a problem that threatens all life on Earth, he needs Frank’s help.
As for my inspiration… it’s evolved significantly over the years, but I talked about that quite a bit a few weeks ago!
