It has been one crazy week. As I mentioned the other day, I got a new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 that has drawing capabilities. I noted (heh) at that point that one of my goals was to attempt to completely digitize my process…
I would say it has been a rousing success. I have completed 10 page thumbnails (a mixture of layout and sketching similar to storyboarding in the movies) all on my phone in the past week. That’s 2 per day!
Not only that, but something about changing up my process is helping to jolt me out of old habits. It’s not the tool, it’s just the fact of doing something different that’s helped that. The device itself is only helping to make everything I do more portable. I can now draw anywhere I have my phone! It’s been terrific and a welcomed addition to my process.
What you may have missed out on if we’re not social media friends…
I decided that I wanted the people that don’t follow me on social networks to have a chance to see some of the things I’ve been posting of the work I’ve been doing on Resonance Men. So, here’s a sort of image dump from my Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Google+. (Don’t get me wrong though, you should totally still follow me on those things. :D)
I really feel confident about this iteration of the story. I’m focusing a lot of my efforts on transitions, character development, and overall quality of the whole shebang. I’ve already colored two pages to completion and digitally inked another. So, I’m making my way. It’s a bit slower than I’d like it to be, but I think I can start picking up now that I’ve solved what was wrong with my first colored page.
I hope you guys are excited. I know I am. After I get a little further into the book, I might have some fun news for you! 😀
