Help Save Hand-Drawn 2D Animation with Your Love of Steampunk!

I grew up watching hand-drawn, 2D animated films and TV shows. They were some of my favorites. I also grew up in the transition period moving to CGI. I love CGI too, but there’s something about the craft of hand-drawn animation that speaks to me as an artist. Now, my daughters love all the different types too.

Well, if you’re anything like me, you probably remember when Disney called it quits on hand-drawn animation (a la Brother Bear) and really want to see something special again. Well, here’s your chance!

A group of animators is working to put together an animated short film as a proof of concept for either a web series or a feature film… and it looks really cool. They’ve got an IndieGoGo campaign to raise the funds needed. (IndieGoGo is just like Kickstarter)

I know quite a few of you out there are Steampunk fans, but for those of you who aren’t, Steampunk is based in an alternate Victorian era where steam-power has won out over coal. It’s a fun, fancily-dressed genre that is always gathering…steam (I’m sorry). Anyway, for fans of the genre, this is for you! For newbies to the genre, I think you’ll like it.

The movie looks like an action-packed, beautifully-rendered adventure. Looks like something I would want my kids to watch, and something they would enjoy alongside me.

So let’s help get these animators animating!
