Well. 2021 is coming to a close and the future is…well, it’s uncertain. Things are very much the same as they were coming out of 2020 as they are coming out of 2021. There are a lot of genuinely bad things happening–from a virus still ravaging our world, to climate change, to some pretty horrendous political stuff–and we all need to continue to do what we can to make the world a better place.
I know I joke (a lot) about being pessimistic. Gallows humor comes very easy to me, but the truth is that we’re truly going to have to work to make this world a better place.
Read some books, write your congress people, organize where you can, and be a voice for good in the world.
Over the last two years, I know some people have been rubbed the wrong way by my choice to make some more…”political” content as they call it, but the fact is that making people laugh is what I’m good at. Calling out absurdity when I see it is one small thing I can do from this platform, so…I’m not going to become a political cartoonist, but sometimes real life is funny and terrifying and sad and absurd…and I’m going to keep making obscure comics about those things.
ANYWAY…I hope you all have a happy New Year (the holiday) and I wish us all the absolute best next year.
After all…how much worse can it get? 😉
